To get the most savings from the Midday Power Saver, run high-energy use appliances during the three-hour window instead of during more expensive electricity periods.
It is recommended to stagger appliance usage across the three-hour window rather than running multiple high-energy use appliances, such as batteries and EV chargers, at the same time.
Running multiple high-energy appliances at the same time can overload your electrical system, causing circuit breakers to trip or fuses to blow.
If your home has an older switchboard or wiring and you have not had an electrical safety check recently, speak with a licensed electrician before running multiple high-energy use appliances at the same time.
Spreading appliance use across the three-hour window can help avoid power interruptions at home or in your street, and unexpected electrical costs.
High-energy use appliances in your home may include:
- EV chargers (very high-energy use)
- Home batteries (very high-energy use)
- Electric heating and cooling
- Hot water heating
- Clothes dryers
- Pool pumps
If you experience a power interruption, tripped circuit breaker or blown fuse, visit the Energy Safe Victoria website for advice on power outages and electrical safety.
Your electricity distributor may also be able to provide information about the outage and when power is expected to be restored. To find your electricity distributor, check our interactive map.
