Research and Development round 2 grant program

Applications opened on 10 August 2020 for the second round of grants from the Powerline Bushfire Safety Program’s (PBSP’s) Research and Development (R&D) Fund.

The $2 million research fund helps support new and emerging technologies, processes and systems that will improve the safety of powerlines and electricity assets against bushfires.

The PBSP has already invested $10 million to support the testing and development of new powerline bushfire protection technology and fault detection capabilities.

In line with the independent Grimes Review into Victoria’s energy safety framework, this second round of grants will give preference to R&D projects that either include or are jointly managed by the electrical distribution businesses, fostering the potential for industry investment and research adoption.

Applications for the R&D grants are now open until 5 October 2020.
